Privacy policy

Athena is built to work offline. Your questions, answers, reading and settings stay on your device.

What we collect

Nothing. Athena has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We do not collect, store or sell any personal information, and we never see what you ask or read.

What stays on your device

Your questions and the Librarian's answers, your reading history, your game scores and your settings are stored only on your iPhone or iPad. They are never sent to us or to anyone else. Deleting the app deletes them.

On-device AI

Athena's AI models run entirely on your device. Your questions are not sent to any server. On devices with Apple Intelligence, Athena can use Apple's on-device model; that also runs on your device, under Apple's privacy terms.

Downloads

When you download books, AI models or Explore's daily articles, Athena requests files from our download server (downloads.athenaoffline.com, hosted by Cloudflare). Like any web server, it may briefly keep standard request information, such as your IP address, the time and the file requested, to deliver files and protect the service. We do not use it to identify you, build a profile or track you, and it is not linked to anything you do in the app. Once downloaded, everything works without a connection.

Children

Athena does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Third parties

Athena contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking code. Book content comes from Wikipedia and other openly licensed sources; see Acknowledgements in the app.

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
